ASSIGNMENT: Is Formal Education or Schooling a SCAM

Good day ladies and gentle men, my name is Abu Rhodiat Damilola, I am here to oppose the motion which says “is Formal Education or Schooling a Scam” Now before I proceed, I would like to give honor to who honor belong to by saying good day Mr. Chairman, Panel of judges Accurate time keeper, co-debaters distinguish girls and my fellow students.

POINTS

  1. Many people believe that the school system is flawed and it doesn’t teach, children necessary life skills they argue that school teaches children things that aren’t related to their futures and does not prepare them for their career of choice.
  2. Those who feel school is a waste of time argue that there is a long difference between customer education and school that is merely a formal system or process that doesn’t actually offer everything that education entails. They believe that school only expose student to certain select views and ideas and fact to provide the entire posture of all perspective that are out there.
  3. Education is like gold or diamond that can’t reach it full value without being refined it doesn’t matter whatever talent or skills you have without the right education to refined them, their true potential may not be reduced.
  4. The reason why some of our student is due to high rate of unemployment in Nigeria, more than 50% of youth are either unemployed or underemployed coupled with government and human policies in Nigeria that has resulted in series of protest in Nigeria by the youth.
  5. The essence of education for someone to differentiate from ethical and unethical in any environment he/she finds himself/herself even through more than 60% of Nigeria are graduates and unemployed does not signify that it is a scam due to these few points of mine, I think I am able to convince and not to confuse you that the formal education or schooling is a Scam. Thanks.
