- Recognize and name icons in the internet environment
- Send and receive e-mail.
- Chart on the internet

BUILDING BACKGROUND/ CONNECTION TO KNOWLEDGE: The students have come in contact the computer system and for the purpose of this lesson, some hardware components are presented before them.

The Internet Environment: Using a Web Browser
An internet environment on a typical web browser consists of the following common features.
Back and Forward Buttons
The Back and forward are used to move the web pages back and forth.
Refresh Button
This button when clicked, reloads the current web page.
Stop Button
The stop button cancels the loading action of the current web page. In most web browsers, the stop button is often merged with the reloaded button.
Home Button
This is the command button that is used to return a user to the home page of the current website.
Address Bar
The address bar as the name implies is used to input webpage addresses i.e. Uniform Resources Identifier (URI) for display. Without the address bar, a user cannot view a desired web page.
Search Bar
This is used to input terms into search engines.
Status Bar
The status bar is used to display progress in loading the resources and also the URI of hyperlinks when the cursor hovers over them.
Menu Bar
The menu bar contains a list of menus used for manipulating web browsers and web pages. It is common to all GUI applications. The Web browsers may contain menu options such as History and Bookmarks which distinguishes them from other GUI applications e.g. Microsoft Word.

Uses of the Internet
The internet is used for:
- Sending and receiving emails
- Chatting, etc.
STRATEGIES AND ACTIVITIES:
The activity I: The teacher leads by asking the student to mention features of the internet environment.
Activity II: The teacher lists the features of the internet environment.
Activity III: The teacher leads by explaining the key vocabulary in the class such as URI, HTML, HTTP, etc
Activity IV: The teacher will summarize the topic and make the necessary corrections to the learners’ discussion.
