Parable Of The Talents: J S 2
TEXT: Matthew 25:14-30.
Parable Of The Talents: J S 2: In this parable, a man entrusts his servants with different amounts of money (talents) before he goes away on a journey. To one servant, he gives five talents, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to their ability. The first two servants invest and double the money they were given. However, the third servant, out of fear, buries his talent in the ground and returns it without any gain.
When the master returns, he commends the first two servants for their faithfulness and diligence, saying, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” However, he rebukes the third servant for his laziness and lack of responsibility, saying, “You wicked, lazy servant!”
This parable teaches about the importance of being responsible stewards of the gifts, abilities, and resources that God has given us. It emphasizes the need to use our talents wisely, invest in them, and bear fruit for the kingdom of God. It also warns against being passive or fearful, encouraging us to take initiative and be diligent in serving God and others. Ultimately, it highlights the principle that with great privilege (talents) comes great responsibility.
