Work
- Work is done when a force is applied to an object and the object moves in the direction of the force.
- Formula: Work = Force × Distance (W = F × d).
- Unit of work = Joule (J).
Examples:
- A mass of 5kg is raised through 2.5m. Work = 125J.
- A car pushed with 200N for 50m. Work = 10,000J.
Energy
- Energy is the ability to do work.
- Forms of energy: Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Heat, Light, Sound, Nuclear, etc.
- Law of Conservation of Energy: Energy cannot be created or destroyed but can be transformed from one form to another.
Power
- Power is the rate of doing work.
- Formula: Power = Work ÷ Time.
- Unit = Watt (W).
Examples:
- Child does 50J in 10s → Power = 5W.
- Blessing does 250J in 5s → Power = 50W.
