Lesson Content:

1. Meaning of Social Studies:

Social Studies is a subject that deals with how man lives and interacts with his environment. It teaches us about human relationships, the society we live in, and how to be good citizens.

Definition:
Social Studies is the study of man and his relationship with his social and physical environment.


2. Scope of Social Studies:

The scope refers to the areas that Social Studies covers. These include:

  • Culture and values

  • Family and society

  • Government and leadership

  • Environment and resources

  • Peace and conflict resolution

  • National unity and integration

  • Human rights and responsibilities


3. Nature of Social Studies:

  • It is interdisciplinary (borrows from other subjects like Geography, History, Civics, etc.).

  • It is problem-solving in nature.

  • It is practical and activity-based.

  • It promotes responsible citizenship.

  • It helps develop critical thinking and decision-making skills.


Importance of Social Studies:
