Content:

The word science is derived from a Latin word known as SCIENTIA which means knowledge. Science is the body or knowledge obtained by methods based on observation study and practice. Science is the systematic process of the study of living and non-living things so as to solve human problems for the betterment of life. Based on natural phenomena. A person who studies science is called a scientist.

Strategies & Activities: The discussion method with the students as Branches of science was explained by the teacher. There are basically 3 main branches of science (i) Physics    (ii) Chemistry    (iii) Biology

  • Physics: This is the study of matter in relation to ENERGY
  • Chemistry is the study of the composition, properties, and state of matter
  • Biology is the study of living things

Scientific Methods

These are the stages taken by scientists when trying to solve scientific problems which include (i) Observation     (ii) Defining problems
(iii) Gathering and Classifying data     (iv) Hypotheses     (v) Interpretation     (vi)Conclusion     (vii) Theroy and Law

Assessment (Evaluation): The teacher asks the students questions

Wrap-up (Conclusion): General questions recited to the topic were asked and answer

Assignment: Mention 5 important of science to man

Here are five important ways in which science benefits humanity:

ANSWER

  1. Advancing Knowledge: Science helps us uncover the mysteries of the natural world and the universe. It enables us to explore and understand the fundamental principles that govern everything from the smallest subatomic particles to the vastness of space.

  1. Technological Advancements: Science drives technological progress, leading to the development of new technologies and innovations that enhance our daily lives. This includes advancements in medicine, communication, transportation, energy production, and more.

  1. Improved Health and Medicine: Scientific research has led to significant breakthroughs in medicine and healthcare. It has enabled the development of vaccines, antibiotics, medical devices, and treatments that have saved countless lives and improved overall public health.

  1. Environmental Understanding: Science helps us monitor and understand the impact of human activities on the environment. It provides insights into climate change, pollution, biodiversity loss, and resource management, guiding efforts to address environmental challenges and promote sustainability.

  1. Evidence-Based Decision Making: Science provides a rigorous framework for gathering and analyzing data. It allows policymakers, businesses, and individuals to make informed decisions based on evidence rather than conjecture, superstition, or ideology, leading to more effective and rational choices in various domains.

In summary, science is essential for expanding our knowledge, driving technological progress, improving health and medicine, addressing environmental issues, and guiding evidence-based decision-making in society, ultimately benefiting humanity in countless ways.
