Introduction To Science  

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

  1. Explains the concept of science and scientific process
  2. Analyze science related occupations and the benefits of science to mankind
  • Highlight the applications of science and scientific inventions

WEEK 2

LIVING AND NON -LIVING THINGS (I)

Classification and states of matter

Characteristics of living things

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

  1. Categorizes living and non-living things as matter
  2. Classify objects according to the states of matter
  • Enumerate the distinguishing characteristics between living and non- living things.

WEEK3

LIVING AND NON -LIVING THINGS (II)

Characteristics and importance of plants and animals.

Differences between Plants and Animals

Classification of non –living things into metals and non-metals

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

  1. Appraise the characteristics and importance of plants and animals.
  2. Differentiate between plants and animals
  • Separate objects into metals and non-metals, stating their properties

WEEK 4

HUMAN DEVELOPMENT

Puberty and Adolescence

Puberty/Adolescent changes (Physical, social and emotional

Menstruation, Menstrual cycle and hygiene

Coping with concerns at adolescence

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

  1. Explain the concept of puberty and adolescence
  2. Recognize and explore pubertal changes in boys and girls
  • Propose skills in coping with concerns at puberty

WEEK 5

FAMILY HEALTH (I)

Personal Cleanliness /Personal

Hygiene

Environmental Cleanliness (Sanitation) and methods used for maintaining Cleanliness

Effect of poor hygiene and Sanitation

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

  1. Justify the need for/ importance of personal and environmental cleanliness.
  2. propose ways of maintaining personal and environmental cleanliness.
  • determine the effect of poor hygiene and sanitation on society.

WEEK 6

FAMILY HEALTH (II)

Nutrition and food nutrients

Classes of food, sources and functions

Balanced/Adequate diet

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

  1. Relate nutrition and food nutrients to the prevention of diseases.
  2. Classify food items based on food nutrients and state their functions.
  • Plan a three (3) day adequate/balanced diet to maintain good health.

FAMILY HEALTH(III)

DRUGS/SUBSTANCE ABUSE(I)

Definition Of drug,

Drug abuse, Drug misuse, Drug Addition

Effects of Drug abuse/Addiction

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

  1. Explain the meaning of drug, drug abuse and drug addiction
  2. Explore the sources and commonly abused drugs.
  • Predict the effects of drug abuse on young people.

WEEK 9

REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM

MALE INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL R/S

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

  1. Acknowledge the benefits of knowing about the male reproductive system.
  2. Recognize the parts of the male reproductive system.
  • Draw/mould and label the internal parts of the Male reproductive system.

WEEK 10

REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM

FEMALE INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL R/S

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

  1. Acknowledge the benefits of knowing about the reproductive systems.
  2. Recognize the parts of the male reproductive system.
  • Draw/mould and label the internal parts of the Male reproductive system

WEEK 11

REVISION OF THE TERM WORK

By the end of first term,

  • Students understand how science relate to man and its environment
  • They have better understanding of their environment
  • They evaluate how personal hygiene can influence their day to day activities
  • They have better understanding on how energy works
  • They understand how energy is integrated into the society.
