CRS LESSON NOTE: CALL TO SERVICE

What Is a call ?

A Call can refer to any form of communication or invitation, such as a call for help, a call to action, or a call for participation.

What Is Servic 

Service simply means providing something of value that meets the need of the public and society to satisfy their needs. It also means to work for a person, country, or organization for a reward in the form of wages or salary or as a volunteer. CRS LESSON NOTE: CALL TO SERVICE

Service generally needed in our family, school, community, societies, and nations. People’s services are needed everywhere even in our churches. Individuals should endeavor to give their best in services whenever they are opportune to do for the benefit others and self fulfillment.

 

EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE WHO RESPONDED TO GOD’S CALL IN THE BIBLE

The Bible provides inspiring narratives of individuals who answered God’s call with utmost devotion, serving as timeless examples for all.

  1. Abraham: God called Abraham to leave his familiar surroundings and embark on a journey to an undisclosed land. Despite the uncertainty, Abraham exhibited unwavering faith and obedience.
  2. Moses: Chosen by God to liberate the Israelites from Egyptian bondage, Moses fearlessly embraced his role, leading the people through the challenges of the wilderness.
  3. Joseph: Though faced with betrayal by his brothers and unjust imprisonment, Joseph remained steadfast in his service to God. Eventually, he rose to a position of prominence, fulfilling God’s purpose in the land of Egypt.
  4. Joshua: Following the death of Moses, Joshua willingly accepted God’s call to lead the Israelites into the promised land. His obedience and adherence to God’s instructions exemplify the essence of dedicated service.
  5. Isaiah: When Isaiah heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Here I am, send me, Lord,” he responded promptly, displaying a readiness to serve God in whatever capacity required.
  6. Jeremiah: Similarly, Jeremiah did not hesitate to heed God’s call, offering his service without reservation. His commitment to God’s will became a testament to the power of obedient service.

The examples from the Bible highlight the profound impact of individuals responding to God’s call with a heart dedicated to service. The universal applicability of service extends beyond religious contexts, emphasizing its importance in family, school, community, and national settings. As we navigate through life, may we be inspired by these biblical narratives to embrace opportunities for service and contribute positively to the well-being of those around us.
