Introduction:

We are still on our theme, Walking in the spirit of God.

When we look at all those who walked in the spirit of God, you will begin to imagine how try were chosen and how they were able to achieve this feat.

God in the old testament and now has chosen people who carry out His missions on earth. This people from their records did marvelously well and were commended for a job well done. Their impact cannot and will never be erased in time. The results so far was so pleasing and they will always be remembered.

Whenever God wants to warn nations, kingdoms, neighborhoods, families etc about His intentions, His plans, or when He is angry with them, or when He wants to bless them, or when He wants to destroy their enemies for them and so on, God will always send this chosen people.

If God wants to communicate with anyone, He will choose who He wants to send because He is a spirit, He communicate with them in different ways beyond physical abilities. Some of them he communicate through visions, some through dreams, He spoke to some through their ears, infact some of them were interpreters of dreams and visions, we have some that the spirit of God descends on them and made them a different person entirely and they did a lot for Him.

So the spirit of God has been active before now, though in the lives of those chosen for a reason. His spirit was not rampant then though He has a future plan.

God doesn’t want to give out His spirit in small measures any longer but want to pour it out to everyone, however to those who are ready and have made themselves available.

God’s decision to pour out His spirit to all flesh is also because He knows when it comes to a time, He wants to be speaking to people by Himself. He knows that a time will come each family will have someone that can prophesy, some families will have someone that sees visions or knows how to interpret dreams. There won’t be need to send someone from a far distance to speak His mind because everyone one that He has chosen for Himself will receive that spirit and begin to carry out God’s assignment has directed by Him.

Apostle Peter was the one that made this statement in the above bible text: saying, “I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh”,  but He is also looking for those who will accept it when He pours it out.  Are you among the chosen that will receive it or are you among those who are ready to receive it ?.

Whenever God releases His spirit it is for a purpose and it should be carried out strictly for that purpose.

If God chose this people to solve the problems in their families, nations, kingdoms etc then He can use you to solve that battles your family is passing through, He can use you to see those secrets of the devil tormenting your family or business or even marital life.

One thing is that if Gods spirit is not in you, then another spirit is dwelling in you. The point is that you have been chosen by one person.

Outline:

  1. The Chosen

  2. The exploits of the chosen by the help of the spirit. Hebrews 11:32

  3. Why you are not experiencing the spirt/gifts in your life

  4. What to do.

Exposition:

The Chosen:

This means to be selected among other available options. Yes, some are there that it looks as if they are better, more intelligent, more stronger physically, more out spoken, more handsome but they are not chosen for the task.

If that problem persist, it means the chosen one is still busy with something else.

We have been chosen for a purpose. So in that family we have those that God has chosen, in that town or community we have those who have been chosen and God is looking for those He will chose because He is pouring out His spirit but only few are ready to receive it.

The exploits of the chosen by the help of the spirit.

1 Samuel 9:15, 1 Samuel 3:1-3, 1 Samuel 16:10, 13.

God told Samuel to go Jesses house to anoint David. When Jesse brought out all his sons starting from Eliab, Samuel almost chose the first son but God spoke to Samuel directly to his ears that He has not chosen them. This is because Samuel is one of the chosen and that is why he could understand the things of the spirit. All the period Samuel was a prophet in Israel, non of his words dropped to the ground because he is a chosen.

Asides, God had to replace Eli with Him because he needed someone to be communicating with about Isreal.

Also, Samuel always lay by the ark of God signifying his readiness and relationship with God to be chosen.

God is very careful who He chooses because He doesn’t want those that will disgrace Him or His name.

  1. Daniel: He has an excellent spirit, sees vision and can interpret dreams and spiritual writings. Daniel 5:11-12.

The wife of a king in a Persian land was the one that confirmed about Daniel that God has chosen him and has a lot of spiritual qualities.

  1. Gideon: He was chosen among the entire people. God knew him but he didn’t know himself. In the spirit he was a mighty man of valor Judges 6:12, but after the experience he went in that spirit in Judges 6:34 when God released His spirit upon him to set the Israelites free from Midianites and Amalekites.

When God pours out His spirit , you become another person. At that moment you will receive strength, wisdom, extra ordinary ideas, unrivaled boldness etc

  1. Apostle Ayo Babalola:

Our own Babalola too received God’s spirit and he did wonderful works for Christ. We heard how he prayed on the mountain and his knees made a huge mark on the rock. We heard how he was going for evangelism and the boat owners have closed for the day but yet the holy spirit took him over to the otherside of the stream to go for a revival or is it how that whenever he is preaching, his feet is lifted from the ground or how witches and wizards surrender their charms before the God in him and many more of his exploits.

All this is because he is a chosen.

  1. David: He was chosen among his brothers. Non of the 7 brothers were chosen and the moment he was anointed the spirit of God descended on Him and he went in that spirit to do great and mighty things for God. Non of his enemies could stand before him. 1 Samuel 16:10, 13. Samson: Judges 13:25, 14:6, 15:14.

The spirit of God is always on Samson using him to deal with the philistines.

  1. Jephtha: Judges 11:29 and the spirit of the lord came upon him that made him to defeat the Amorites.

  1. Jesus Christ: Luke 4:18, Jesus confirmed the spirit of the lord is upon Him, can you confirm this to yourself?,…. This is because He was chosen.

God was silent for 400 years between Malachi and Matthew and God chose Jesus to do His work. He was chosen and He put Himself to use.

Matthew 17:5…  In this verse Moses and Elijah showed up in a vision and disciples propose to place stones for them but because Jesus is the chosen one, a voice came out saying this is my beloved son, hear Him.

No wonder storm can hear Him, death can hear Him, sickness can hear Him, deafness can hear Him, witches and wizard can hear Him etc and also obey Him. Can all the above hear you how much more obey you?. All this is because He is a chosen one to carry Gods spirit.

Wherever the chosen speak, everything will hear them and obey. I don’t know what you are passing through but if you are chosen, whatever you say everything will obey it. If they receive this spirit signs and wonders will be happening wherever they enter.

Also, note that if God says I will pour out my spirit, He will be careful of those He will give. He doesn’t want those that will disappoint Him or drag His name on the floor or disgrace His name but those that will honor Him.

All this fathers that were chosen worked marvelously for God and the report about them were great.

They did the following:

Hebrews 11:32,33,34,35,36

  • Subdue kingdom:

David, Joshua, Gideon etc

  • Wrought righteousness:

Spoke truth to kings without fear. Kings were corrected for wrong doing.

  • Stopped the mouth of lions:

Daniel and Samson.

  • Quench violent fire: Meshach,Shedrach and Abednego etc
  • Escape the hedge of swords:

Elijah

  • Out of weakness were made strong:
  • Waxed valiant in fights:
  • Fought wars and won.
  • Turn to flight the armies of the aliens:

Why you are not experiencing the spirit/gifts in your life:

Is unfortunate that God made this promise and yet many are not experiencimg the spirit of God and the reason is:

  1. We love to satisfy the flesh. Galatians 5:16: You cannot be satisfying the flesh and be demanding for the spirit of God. The bible says, the flesh profited nothing, is the spirit that quickenth. The devil has a way of distracting us from the things of God. This is one major reason we are not experiencimg His spirit in us.

  1. Poor relationship with God:

When God needed to replace Eli, the bible said Samuel always sleeps beside the ark, it was so easy for God to chose him. It means he has a good relationship with God and God could trust him with this heavenly gift. God will not pour His spirit on a liar, fornicator, drunkard, late comer to service, indiscipline, fighter etc Daniel too has a good relationship with God. We were told he prays 3 times a day meaning his relationship with God was strong. No wonder he was chosen.

What to do.

2. Give your life to Christ completely and dedicate your life to God.:

This people gave their life completely to God and also have great relationship with God. Samuel was always with Him. Are you always with Him?.

Let us wake up to this call. God is pouring out His spirit to many people at the moment but if you don’t accept Him and build a strong relationship with Him then your Christianity is at question.
