Give Me Thy Wisdom Oh God:

God is close to us but we are not observant a lot that is why it looks as if God is far away. If we check very well you will notice many of our prayers are repeated and when wisdom is lacking in your prayers it means one will be praying in vain.

Praying for hours is not the issue but praying rightly is what is most important. Prayers that lack wisdom will look as if the prayers is not answered. So, let’s endeavor that whenever we pray we should apply a lot of wisdom in order for us to have speedy answers to our prayers.

Exposition

1. What is wisdom

Is the capacity to apply knowledge for productivity, progress, and creativity.
Every one of us in one way or the other is a judge. If you find yourself in a situation where you make judgement then know you are a judge. So what this implies is that, at every point in time our judgment must be productive and progressive which must at least push us forward in life.

Three things that make you wise:

1. The judgment must be productivity which brings profit to us.

2. The steps we take must bring progress to us

3. Our judgment must be creative and ideas that will make our life to progress.

All the abovementioned here simplify that one is wise.

Types of Wisdom/ Thy Wisdom Oh God

1. Human wisdom: Ecclesiastes 3:19-20.
From the bible verse, we are not better than the animals mentioned here in this verse They eat we also eat, they get married we also get married etc.

2. Demonic wisdom: Ephesians 6:12

From the bible verse, we are not battling with humans but spirits. They use their wisdom for evil and is done in the way it pleases them mostly not for the good of human.

3. Godly wisdom: James 3:17

This is God’s wisdom. Wherever God wisdom is there is progress and good things, this means applying God’s wisdom in anything we do is great gain.

Characteristic of Thy Wisdom Oh God

1. Creativity: It means, this breeds transformation. Wherever a child of God is, there should be a turnaround for good. If there is no changes around you, it means wisdom is lacking here.

2. Curiosity: This has to do with our interest or what you are in interested in. Whoever has wisdom and also a Church member would want to know what is happening in the church or will be curious to know what should be done to move the church forward. This category of persons will always clamor for progress on how things can be better.

3. Judgement:

This has to do with being able to understand and observe a piece of information from a fearful manner or a fearful point of view. Once information gets to you, ensure you think about it very well before you make decisions or make a judgment. It is important that you think deeply and ensure your judgment is the right one, not been selfish and also for the benefit of all.

4. Love of learning:

What this does in the life of man? Learning makes you to be a master. As a man in the house, you are a master and the one in charge but if you lack the information you need to function as a master, it will be difficult even in your home. This applies to the woman too. Is expected that you observe your husband very well in order to help you function well as a wife at home or in any capacity you find yourself. Pray Oh Give Me Thy Wisdom Oh God

5. Perspective:

What this does is that you must know your own impact and the impact of others. If you only recognize your impact alone, it might not speak well because is important you know the impact of others. You cannot be coming to church and not have a role to play and you should also know the impact of others and failure to acknowledge this can bring conflicts.

Behaviors against Thy Wisdom Oh God

1. Respect: Anyone that lacks respect for fellow men or those in authority lacks wisdom. Everyone deserves respect in one way or the other. It is said, that we should give honor to those who is due.

2. Measurement: Many don’t know how much they weigh. Is important that we know what we weigh to help us know our level of reasoning when relating to others. An example is Pharaoh who doesn’t know what he weighs when he tried competing with God, so unfortunate that he was finally destroyed. Likewise, Ruben in the bible misbehaves with the father.

3. Covetousness: A look at King Ahab who was covetous to the property of Naboth using force and authority however, he faced the consequences.

4. Malice: When you keep malice then you lack wisdom. An example is Cain who kept malice with Abel. He showed lack of wisdom in this regard. Also, we have Absalom who went against and also acted wrongly to the father. The consequences were not a good one in the end.

5. Back Biting: Lack of wisdom makes one to engage in backbiting.

6. Laziness in prayer too is a lack of wisdom.

7. Not allowing the holy spirit in our hearts: The holy spirit will only dwell in the heart of those with wisdom. The holy spirit can use anyone to act his work but will dwell permanently with those with wisdom.

8. Cruel Person

Those with Wisdom & those who lack wisdom.
Examples from the Bible:

Two people with wisdom and two that lack wisdom

1. Joseph. Gen 42: 7-13
When the brothers of Joseph sold him to slavery and later showed up in Egypt to buy food, they didn’t recognize him but he was able to recognize them and used wisdom to manage them and the issues among them were resolved, infact he was used to save generations that left Egypt.

2. Ruth: 1:14-16 :
This is another person that is wise. When others were seeing humans, Ruth was seeing God. At the moment she was experiencing bitterness however she never allowed it to overcome her. The life of these 2 people is filled with humility and they allowed God to operate in their lives very well. Oh God Show Me Your Ways O Lord

3. Samson and Jephthah: Judges 11. The names mentioned never operated in God’s wisdom and their end was not good.
